| Notes: | In his last completed symphony, the “Choral”, Beethoven effectively redefined the genre. The highly charged expressive power of the first three movements find release in the extraordinary finale, a setting for chorus and soloists of Schiller’s “Ode to Joy”, in which the composer makes an impassioned appeal to humanity for universal harmony. The Bach Choir will be joined by Daventry Choral Society, and soloists Helena Dix, Anne-Marie Owens, Daniel Norman and Paul Putninš with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra all conducted by the dynamic Romanian conductor Nicolae Moldoveanu. Also on the programme will be Max Bruch’s classically romantic Violin Concerto No.1 with the young violinist Chloe Hanslip. Tickets for this concert are only available through the Derngate Box Office, Tel: 01604 624811 or on line at www.royalandderngate.co.uk |
