Notes: Johannes Brahms was renowned for making arrangements of his own music, and that of others, for four hands rather than full orchestra. This performance of his beautiful and moving Requiem will be accompanied by the composer’s own arrangement for piano duet.

The combined choirs of Northampton Bach Choir and Daventry Choral Society produced a tremendously exciting sound.

Programme: Angels – A Celebration of Christmas
An evening of Christmas music for Choir and Audience celebrating Christmas and the theme of Angels.
Performers: Northampton High School Junior Choir, Directed by Kate Miller
Northampton Bach Choir, Conducted by Lee Dunleavy
Notes: The Choir’s Christmas concert will explore the theme of Angels and their association with the story of Christ’s birth. We will be joined by the Junior Choir of Northampton High School, and there will be a number of familiar carols for the audience to join in and sing.

Notes:
This concert compares and contrasts two different settings of the Magnificat, the song of praise of the Virgin Mary, by two living composers. Autumn Legend was written by the Northampton born composer William Alwyn for solo Cor Anglais and strings.
