Woodland View Primary School Year 5/6 Choir 

Our school has been open for seven years now and one of the priorities on our “to do” list back in 2003 was to establish a school choir. That small group of inexperienced but enthusiastic singers were thrilled to find themselves in an environment where music was seen as a priority rather than a little light relief at the end of a day. They won their first ever festival only months after we opened and I can assure you it was because of their absolute joy in singing rather than the beautiful sound they made, though we were proud!

In the two years I have to work with the children they frequently just start to amaze me with their wonderful, confident singing before they move on to secondary, but hopefully their time with us will have made a lasting impression. We do everything we can to encourage the children to see singing as something which is not just for primary school…..not just for Christmas……but for life. For this reason we are thrilled to be invited to be the guests of a high calibre, adult group such as the Bach Choir so our children can see this for themselves.

Seven years on we stand by our conviction that music is, not only brain food, but ……lifts the spirit, feeds the soul and fires our creativity.
