Our regular programme of visiting Sacred Spaces near and far
continues, following visits to Lichfield and Peterborough in 2017,
and with a visit to Westminster Abbey scheduled for 2019.

We take to Worcester a programme of works which have featured in our
recent concerts. Bryan Kelly’s Evening Service in C featured
in our concert on Saturday 28 April 2018, in the presence of the
composer himself, who had arranged the work for chorus, organ, harp,
timpani, and percussion. We sing the work, which is founded upon
Latin American rhythms, in its original format for chorus and organ
at Evensong. Marcel Dupré’s motet Laudate Dominum was
performed in our concert on Saturday 23 June 2018, in a programme of
great French choral music, also including works by Alain, Castagnet,
Duruflé, Poulenc, and Vierne. This work matches Kelly’s Evening
Service in C in its lack of rhythmic inhibition: it is an
exultant outburst of praise, with a memorable tune and a virtuoso
toccata figuration in the organ accompaniment. Our own Musical
Director’s Preces and Responses, composed for the
Peterborough Diocesan Choral Festival in 2017, have been sung by the
choir on a number of occasions, and provide a moment of calm amongst
			these festive works.Programme:
