New Season – New Members
14 September 2015
Tonight we welcomed for the first time twelve new members who
were successful at last Saturday's audition day.
Northampton Bach Choir in Rehearsal

Our principal venue, St Matthew's Church, is the largest venue in
the Town, but it nevertheless presents challenges with performance
space, and although we minimise the size of our accompanying
orchestras as much as possible, we are simply unable to accommodate
more than 115 singers on stage at any one time; we therefore have to
limit the choir to a membership of 130 (which allows for a small
number of absences at each concert). For over a year we have been at
maximum capacity, so we were delighted to be able to hold our
audition day, and our twelve new members were selected from nearly
thirty applicants. This brings the membership of the choir up to 126
– we have kept a small number of vacancies for tenors and basses
(all of our thirty applicants were either sopranos or altos!), so
that a good balance between parts can be achieved.

rehearsal, as preparations continue for our Haydn at Christmas
concert on Saturday 5 December.
