Pagliacci, Plants and Parties
23 May 2016
Throughout the year the choir balance their choral commitments –
this season including no fewer than six concerts with orchestras and
visits to sing at Coventry and St Paul’s Cathedrals – with a healthy
social calendar. A regular feature of the summer season is our plant
stall, which helps not only our members’ gardens, but also the
choir’s coffers! A summer garden party, complete with morris dancers
is a regular feature, and recently we held an Italian social evening
with Italian wines and cuisines provided by a crack team of
hard-working catering experts in the choir. The entertainment not
only included Pagliacci (don’t even ask about the badminton
rackets!) but also singing – community singing of Italian
light-music classics, as well as solos from willing volunteers in
the choir, including our very own Romanian operatic star, whose
performances left room only for the cries of ENCORE … ENCORE!
