New Appointment for our MD

9 January 2020

Last night it was announced that our Musical Director will also be the Musical Director of another Bach Choir from September 2020. In addition to his work as Director of Music at St Mary’s Church Wellingborough, with the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, as Chorus Master of the Huntingdonshire Philharmonic, and Musical Director of the Wellingborough Singers and the Northampton Bach Choir, he will also be Musical Director of the Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir!

Our Musical Director Lee Dunleavy

Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir

The Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir was founded in 1939, and completes its 80th anniversary year just as we, the Northampton Bach Choir, begin our 85th anniversary year! The RLSBC’s founder conductor was the late Stanley Vann (1910-2010), whose music Lee championed during his time as Director of Music at All Saints Northampton, and their first concert was performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion in the spring of 1940.

Many congratulations to Lee on his new appointment, and perhaps some time he might be able to bring his two Bach Choirs together for a joint performance?
